Harshvardhan Rane returned to the silver screen with the romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, co-starring Sonam Bajwa, timed with the Diwali festivities. Despite facing stiff competition from Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, the film has managed to achieve a remarkable commercial performance. Within the first five days, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat earned an estimated Rs 34 crore, surpassing industry expectations, especially considering its limited number of screens and modest budget of approximately Rs 25–30 crore.
The film opened on Tuesday with collections of around Rs 9 crore, holding its ground even against bigger releases with wider distribution. Over the next few days, it maintained steady earnings—Rs 7.5 crore on Wednesday, Rs 6 crore on Thursday, Rs 5.5 crore on Friday, and Rs 5.75 crore on Saturday—reflecting consistent audience interest and positive word-of-mouth. This performance is particularly noteworthy in regions like East Punjab and West Bengal, where romantic dramas historically see lower traction. The strong response in these markets indicates that the film’s storyline and performances are resonating with audiences beyond traditional urban centers.
Releasing alongside Thamma, which is part of a successful horror-comedy franchise and recorded over Rs 50 crore in three days, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat faced challenges in terms of screen allocation and attention. Nevertheless, its sustained box office momentum has set it apart, demonstrating the audience’s affinity for Harshvardhan Rane’s cinematic appeal. Industry analysts are closely monitoring the film to see if it surpasses Rane’s previous hit, Sanam Teri Kasam, potentially establishing a new milestone in his career.
The supporting cast, including Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, and Rajesh Khera, has been instrumental in enhancing the film’s narrative and emotional depth. Their performances complement the leads, contributing to the film’s commercial and critical recognition.
With steady collections and audience appreciation, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is well on track to recover its production cost and potentially become one of the standout romantic dramas of the year. Its performance highlights how strong storytelling, coupled with engaging performances, can deliver success even amidst competition from larger-budget films.
