The White Lotus Season 4 Heads to France: Paris and French Riviera Set as New Backdrop

HBO’s award-winning series The White Lotus is all set to bring its signature blend of luxury, satire, and intrigue to France. According to a report by Variety, the highly anticipated Season 4 of the anthology drama will be filmed across two of the country’s most glamorous locales — Paris and the French Riviera.

This will mark the first European setting for the series, which has previously explored the elite escapades of wealthy vacationers in exotic resorts across Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand. Sources suggest that production teams have begun scouting locations in both regions, with filming expected to commence next year.

In a major shift, the show will reportedly move away from its long-standing collaboration with the Four Seasons hotel chain. Instead, the creators are eyeing new high-end properties to fit the French aesthetic. Among the top contenders are Le Lutetia, a legendary five-star hotel on Paris’s Left Bank, and the world-famous Ritz Paris, a palace that has hosted icons such as Coco Chanel, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Pablo Picasso. Le Lutetia, part of the Mandarin Oriental group, has also been a favourite of historical figures like Charlie Chaplin and Josephine Baker.

While details of the storyline are still under wraps, reports indicate that the narrative will unfold primarily in the South of France, with a subplot set in Paris. Fans can expect the usual White Lotus mix of opulence, dark humour, and moral chaos — but with a distinctly European twist.

Series creator Mike White hinted earlier that the upcoming season would take a different tone, joking that he wanted to move away from “crashing waves on rocks” but adding that there’s always “room for more murders.” The mention of rocky beaches like Nice and Monaco along the French Riviera suggests a continuation of the show’s fascination with the dark underbelly of privilege.

As with past seasons, the cast will likely include a mix of returning and new faces, blending wealthy American guests with local French talent. While HBO has yet to confirm the cast lineup, fans are already speculating about possible returns — including characters like Greg (Jon Gries) or Belinda (Natasha Rothwell).

With its stunning European backdrops and fresh cultural flavour, The White Lotus Season 4 promises another unforgettable stay at television’s most unpredictable luxury resort.
