Namibia, Zimbabwe Qualify for ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026

Namibia and Zimbabwe have officially qualified for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to take place in India and Sri Lanka, after advancing from the Africa Regional Final semifinals in Harare.

In the first semifinal, Namibia recovered from an early batting collapse against Tanzania, falling to 41/4 by the fifth over. An 88-run partnership between JJ Smit and Gerhard Erasmus steadied the innings. Erasmus scored a composed 55 off 41 balls, while Smit remained unbeaten on 61 from 43 balls, hitting four sixes. Smit also starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 16 runs, ensuring Namibia’s victory and marking their fourth consecutive T20 World Cup appearance following 2021’s Super 12 campaign.

In the second semifinal, Zimbabwe overcame Kenya. After opting to bat, Kenya was restricted to 123 despite a 65-run effort from Rakep Patel. Zimbabwe’s chase was led by opener Brian Bennett, who struck 51 off 25 balls, including six boundaries in a decisive over, securing their return to the T20 World Cup after missing the 2024 edition.

With Namibia and Zimbabwe now confirmed, only three spots remain from the Asia-East Asia Pacific (EAP) Qualifier for next year’s tournament. Namibia looks to continue its rising T20 reputation, while Zimbabwe aims to re-establish itself on the global stage.
