Baahubali The Epic OTT Release: Rajamouli’s Saga Streams on Netflix This Christmas

Filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s re-edited magnum opus Baahubali: The Epic is all set to make Christmas special for fans, with its much-anticipated digital premiere scheduled for December 25.

The film, which debuted in theatres on October 31, is a single, remastered version that seamlessly combines Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion into one uninterrupted cinematic experience. Following its limited theatrical run, the epic saga will now stream on Netflix, as listed on the platform ahead of its official announcement.

With a runtime of 3 hours and 43 minutes, Baahubali: The Epic retells the legendary story of Mahishmati in a consolidated format. The synopsis describes it as a tale of betrayal, legacy and revenge, chronicling a warrior’s journey to reclaim his rightful throne years after his father’s downfall.

The digital version also carries a surprise for long-time fans. The closing moments of the film tease an upcoming animated project titled Baahubali: The Eternal War, to be directed by Ishan Shukla, signalling further expansion of the Baahubali universe.

The OTT release is expected to attract both loyal fans eager to revisit the iconic saga and new viewers who may have missed the original theatrical releases. By merging the two blockbuster films into a single narrative, the makers aim to deliver a more immersive and fluid storytelling experience without interval breaks.

Originally released in 2015 and 2017, the Baahubali films redefined Indian cinema with their scale, visual spectacle and global success. The consolidated version offers audiences the rare chance to witness the complete arc of the story in one sitting, enhancing narrative continuity and emotional depth.

Meanwhile, Rajamouli is currently busy with his next ambitious project Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, which is slated for a Sankranthi 2027 release.
