Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to Host ‘Lunch Pe Charcha’ With Youth on January 11 Ahead of National Youth Day

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a new youth outreach initiative titled ‘Lunch Pe Charcha’, inviting young citizens from across the national capital to participate in an open interaction on January 11, ahead of National Youth Day.

The programme is aimed at fostering direct, informal and meaningful engagement between the Delhi government and the city’s youth. Designed as a conversational platform rather than a formal meeting, Lunch Pe Charcha will allow students and young professionals to freely share their ideas, concerns and expectations with the Chief Minister over a shared meal.

Why January 11 Was Chosen

National Youth Day is observed annually on January 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Since January 12 falls on a working day this year, the Chief Minister decided to schedule the interaction on Sunday, January 11, ensuring maximum participation from students without academic or professional constraints.

Announcing the initiative on social media, Rekha Gupta extended an open invitation to Delhi’s youth, encouraging them to take part in the discussion. She emphasised that the informal nature of the event would help create an environment conducive to honest dialogue and mutual understanding.

Focus Areas of the Discussion

The agenda for Lunch Pe Charcha will revolve around three broad themes. First, the Chief Minister plans to present a transparent assessment of the Delhi government’s performance over the past 11 months, since she assumed office in February last year. This segment will focus on key initiatives, achievements and areas where improvement is still needed.

Second, the interaction will provide space for a candid discussion on the challenges, issues and aspirations faced by young people in Delhi over the past 11 years. Students will be encouraged to speak openly about education, employment, skill development, governance and civic concerns affecting their lives.

The third component will look ahead, focusing on how ideas and suggestions shared by students and young citizens can be translated into actionable policies. The Chief Minister has underlined the importance of youth participation in shaping governance and decision-making processes.

Open Invitation and Participation

To encourage broad participation, students and young citizens have been invited to register their interest or send their questions and suggestions through social media platforms. Selected participants will get the opportunity to interact directly with the Chief Minister during the event.

Officials said the initiative reflects the Delhi government’s effort to move beyond formal consultations and connect with the youth in a more relatable and approachable manner. By choosing an informal setting, the programme aims to break hierarchical barriers and promote open communication.

With Lunch Pe Charcha, the Delhi government seeks to redefine youth engagement by creating a space where governance, feedback and fresh ideas converge naturally. As National Youth Day approaches, the initiative positions young citizens at the centre of dialogue, reinforcing their role in shaping Delhi’s future.
