Fresh off his selection in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Ishan Kishan produced a sensational statement innings, smashing a 33-ball century for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Wednesday.

The explosive knock came against Karnataka at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground B in Motera, Ahmedabad. Kishan’s onslaught powered Jharkhand to a colossal 412 for 9, one of the highest totals in the tournament this season.

Batting with fearless intent, the left-hander hammered 125 off just 39 balls, striking seven fours and 14 sixes. His century—reached in only 33 deliveries—left the Karnataka bowling attack with no answers as Jharkhand surged past the 400-run mark with ease.

Kishan found solid support from Virat Singh, who chipped in with a fluent 88 off 68 balls, and Kumar Kushagra, whose contribution further strengthened Jharkhand’s imposing total.

The innings came days after Kishan’s return to the national setup, where he was named as a backup wicketkeeper for India’s T20 World Cup squad, alongside Sanju Samson. His selection followed a stellar run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he captained Jharkhand to their maiden title.

During the SMAT 2025 campaign, Kishan led from the front, scoring 517 runs in 10 innings at an average of 57.44 and a strike rate exceeding 197. His standout performance came in the final against Haryana, where he blasted 101 off 49 balls, earning the Player of the Match award in a commanding 69-run victory.

With back-to-back explosive performances across formats, Kishan has underlined his form and intent, making a strong case as India prepare for the global T20 stage.
