Kush Maini Joins ART Grand Prix for 2026 F2 Season, Strengthens Push for Formula 1

Indian racer Kush Maini has signed with ART Grand Prix for the 2026 Formula 2 season, marking a pivotal move as he continues his pursuit of a Formula 1 seat. This will be his fourth straight year in F2, but his first with one of the championship’s most successful teams—making 2026 a career-defining season.

Maini brings substantial experience to ART. Across three F2 seasons, he has secured two race wins and seven podiums, including a standout victory in Monaco that significantly elevated his profile. Although his latest season ended with a 16th-place finish, his flashes of speed and composure kept him on the radar of top motorsport outfits.

His path to F2 included a runner-up finish in the 2020 BRDC British F3 Championship and a podium in the 2022 FIA Formula 3 season, building him into a well-rounded competitor.

Maini expressed excitement about joining the French powerhouse, praising its engineering strength and competitive spirit. ART Team Principal Sébastien Philippe highlighted Maini’s maturity and raw speed, citing his Monaco win as a clear demonstration of his potential.

Maini’s rising trajectory has also brought him closer to Formula 1. As a member of the Alpine F1 driver programme, he recently drove the A525 in the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, becoming only the third Indian ever to participate in an official F1 session.

With ART offering a strong platform and Alpine monitoring his progress, the 2026 F2 season may be Maini’s best opportunity yet to secure an F1 seat for 2027. For the Bengaluru-born talent, the next year could be the breakthrough his career has been building toward.
