The NEET-MDS 2026 cut-off has been lowered by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, offering another opportunity to candidates who did not meet the original qualifying threshold. The revised criteria apply to the 2026–27 academic session.
According to a ministry letter dated October 12, the qualifying percentile has been reduced by 20.576 points across the relevant categories, including General, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and candidates with benchmark disabilities.
NEET-MDS 2026: Revised Qualifying Cut-Off
The updated qualifying percentiles and corresponding scores out of 960 are as follows:
| General (UR/EWS) | 50 | 29.424 | 234 |
| SC/ST/OBC, including PwD candidates in these categories | 40 | 19.424 | 200 |
| Unreserved Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (UR-PwD) | 45 | 24.424 | 218 |
The revised scores reflect the updated qualifying criteria following the ministry's decision.
What Does the Cut-Off Reduction Mean for Candidates?
The qualifying percentile represents the minimum threshold required to become eligible for the admission process. With the lower cut-off, candidates who did not qualify under the earlier criteria may now meet the revised eligibility threshold.
However, qualifying for NEET-MDS 2026 does not guarantee admission to a postgraduate dental seat. Final admission will depend on eligibility requirements, merit position, seat availability and the applicable counselling rules.
Will NEET-MDS 2026 Ranks Change?
No. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has clarified that the ranks published with the result notification on June 2 will remain unchanged.
The ministry has directed the examination authority to issue revised results in line with the lower qualifying percentiles. It has also asked the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to take the necessary action on a priority basis.
Candidates should monitor the official NBEMS website and the Medical Counselling Committee portal for revised result details and counselling announcements. They should also review the NEET-MDS 2026 information bulletin to ensure they meet all applicable eligibility conditions.
