PSG Beat Aston Villa 2-1 to Retain UEFA Super Cup, Continue European Dominance

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) continued their remarkable run in European football by defeating Aston Villa 2-1 to retain the UEFA Super Cup, adding another major trophy to their growing collection under manager Luis Enrique.

Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué secured victory for the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, who have now claimed back-to-back Super Cup titles.

PSG opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia produced a brilliant individual effort, weaving past defenders before firing an unstoppable shot into the net.

The French champions controlled much of the opening period but were unable to extend their advantage despite creating several opportunities.

Aston Villa fight back before half-time

Aston Villa responded just before the break through teenage forward Brian Madjo, who finished from close range after a dangerous delivery into the penalty area.

With his goal, Madjo became the youngest player ever to score in a UEFA Super Cup, providing Villa with a timely equaliser before halftime.

Désiré Doué scores the winner

Luis Enrique introduced Ousmane Dembélé in the second half, and the substitution quickly paid off.

Dembélé played a perfectly weighted through ball to Désiré Doué, who calmly finished past the goalkeeper in the 61st minute.

Although the assistant referee initially flagged the goal for offside, a VAR review confirmed Doué was onside, allowing the goal to stand.

Villa pushed hard for another equaliser during the closing stages but PSG's defence held firm to secure another European title.

With the victory, PSG became only the third club in UEFA history to successfully defend the UEFA Super Cup, joining AC Milan and Real Madrid.

The triumph also follows the club's second consecutive UEFA Champions League title, highlighting PSG's growing dominance in European football under Luis Enrique.
