Rohit Pawar: “I Don’t Regret It, Can Get Even Angrier” on Rebuking Officer on Duty

Mumbai, where he candidly addressed a range of political issues, his personal approach to governance, and his vision for the state.

When asked about a recent incident where he publicly rebuked an officer on duty, Pawar expressed no regret over his actions. He emphasized that his anger was rooted in accountability, stating that he could become “even angrier” if public officials commit wrongdoing or deny justice to ordinary citizens. “If officers fail in their duty or refuse to deliver justice, I will not hold back,” Pawar remarked, underlining his proactive and confrontational stance in addressing administrative lapses.

Pawar also elaborated on his vision of developmental politics for Maharashtra, positioning it in stark contrast to caste-based politics that, according to him, have long influenced the state’s governance. He stressed that progress should take precedence over identity politics, calling for policies that benefit the common citizen rather than perpetuate divisions.

Addressing his personal background, Pawar reflected on being labeled a “nepo kid” in politics. He questioned the blanket use of the term, asserting that his actions and political decisions should define him more than his family ties.

On policy matters, Pawar voiced support for Maratha reservation, suggesting that the 50% cap on reservation could be addressed through a parliamentary solution, showing his pragmatic approach to contentious social issues.

Pawar also touched upon family politics, particularly his relationship with his uncle, Ajit Pawar. He indicated that a potential reunion with Ajit Pawar would be contingent upon his uncle leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), hinting at the intertwining of political loyalty and family dynamics in Maharashtra politics.

Through his remarks, Rohit Pawar projected an image of a leader unafraid to confront authority, focused on development, and willing to challenge both political opponents and administrative inefficiencies in pursuit of justice and progress.
