Adani Ports Ready to Handle Energy Cargo Amid Global Supply Disruptions: Karan Adani

Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, said the company is fully prepared to manage critical energy cargo despite global supply chain disruptions.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2026, he highlighted how geopolitical tensions and global conflicts have forced countries to rethink their dependence on highly globalised trade networks.

According to him, strengthening port infrastructure is essential to maintaining stable energy supplies for India during periods of international uncertainty.

Prepared to Handle Critical Energy Cargo

Karan Adani said the company has upgraded its logistics and infrastructure to handle key energy shipments including crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

These commodities play a crucial role in India’s energy security and domestic consumption.

With rising tensions in the Middle East, global energy transportation has faced repeated disruptions, making efficient port infrastructure even more important.

Global Supply Chains Under Pressure

Adani noted that the global trade environment has experienced several shocks in recent years.

From geopolitical conflicts to supply chain bottlenecks, these disruptions have highlighted vulnerabilities in highly interconnected global systems.

Countries are increasingly looking to strengthen domestic logistics capabilities and diversify supply routes to reduce dependence on a single region.

Role of Ports in Energy Security

Ports act as key gateways for energy imports, especially for countries like India that rely heavily on imported fuel.

Adani Ports has invested in facilities capable of handling large volumes of crude oil, LNG and LPG shipments.

Such infrastructure helps ensure that energy supplies continue smoothly even when global shipping routes face disruptions.

Regionalisation of Supply Chains

Karan Adani also discussed the growing trend toward regional supply chain strategies.

Instead of relying entirely on global trade networks, countries are now focusing on building more resilient regional systems.

This approach helps reduce risks associated with geopolitical tensions, trade restrictions and transportation disruptions.

Ensuring Stability During Global Uncertainty

The ongoing instability in global energy markets has reinforced the need for robust infrastructure.

Adani said companies operating in strategic sectors must be prepared to respond quickly to international developments.

By strengthening logistics, storage and transportation systems, ports can help ensure that essential commodities such as fuel continue reaching consumers without interruption.
