The workshop was jointly organised by Agriculture University, Kota and Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas (SSUN), New Delhi, with nearly 300 participants, including teachers, scientists, researchers, medical professionals, social workers and students from across India.

Teacher Assessments Should Improve Education, Not Punish Teachers

Speaking at the event, Governor Bagde said the primary objective of evaluating teachers should be to measure their subject knowledge and teaching effectiveness in order to improve classroom learning.

He stressed that the proposed evaluation system should not be linked to employment, promotions, transfers or retirement benefits, addressing concerns raised by several teachers' organisations.

According to the Governor, regular academic assessments would help identify strengths and areas for improvement while ensuring better educational outcomes for students.

Bagde said a nation's progress should not be judged solely by economic development but also by the intellectual growth of its citizens.

He said India has shown determination in tackling major national challenges such as tuberculosis and should display the same commitment toward eliminating examination paper leaks.

According to Bagde, preventing paper leaks is a shared responsibility of everyone involved in the education system—from primary school teachers to university faculty.

Concern Over Dummy Admissions

During his address, the Governor also raised concerns about dummy admissions and the functioning of certain educational institutions.

He said he has directed officials to collect data on schools involved in such practices so that appropriate action can be taken wherever necessary.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of women's education and healthcare in nation-building.

SSUN National Secretary Dr Atul Kothari said educating girls from economically weaker sections is among the most effective ways to strengthen the nation.

Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr Vimla Dunkwal emphasised the message "Nari Shakti hi Rashtra Shakti", stating that quality education and healthcare for every girl and woman are essential for inclusive development.

Meanwhile, National Women's Action Coordinator Dr Shobha Paithankar expressed concern over the growing dependence on fast food and its long-term impact on public health.
