Amitabh Bachchan reviews grandson Agastya Nanda’s Ikkis: “No frith or froth”

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has penned an emotional and detailed review of Ikkis, marking the big-screen debut of his grandson Agastya Nanda. The legendary actor attended a private screening of the film in Mumbai and later shared his reflections through a personal blog post.

In his review, Bachchan traced his journey as a grandfather—from witnessing Agastya’s birth to seeing him take centre stage as a lead actor. He praised Agastya’s portrayal of Arun Khetarpal, describing the performance as mature, honest and free of theatrical excess. Emphasising restraint and authenticity, Bachchan wrote that his grandson appeared as if he had “stepped out of life” rather than out of a makeup van.

The actor highlighted that his appreciation came from a critical viewer’s perspective, not familial bias. He noted that Agastya’s screen presence held attention in every frame and that the performance relied on subtlety rather than dramatics.

Bachchan also praised the film’s overall execution, commending the writing and direction by Sriram Raghavan. He described Ikkis as flawless in its storytelling and presentation, adding that the film left him overwhelmed with pride and emotion by the end.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films, Ikkis is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India–Pakistan war. The film features an ensemble cast including Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat and others, and is scheduled for a theatrical release in early 2026.
