Emotional Sunny Deol choked up at Border 2 song launch in Longewala–Tanot sector

Actor Sunny Deol was visibly emotional during the launch of Ghar Kab Aaoge, the soulful new song from Border 2, held at the historic Longewala–Tanot sector in Jaisalmer. Surrounded by personnel from the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), the veteran actor struggled to contain his emotions as he addressed the gathering, describing the moment as deeply overwhelming.

Speaking on stage, Sunny Deol candidly admitted that he was finding it difficult to express himself. “Main zyada kuch keh nahi paaunga kyunki dimaag hi abhi mera thoda hila hua hai,” he said, explaining that the intensity of the setting and the presence of soldiers had left him emotionally shaken. His words reflected a rare vulnerability, resonating strongly with the audience present at one of India’s most symbolically significant military locations.

The actor went on to reflect on his long-standing connection with the armed forces, a bond forged over decades through his portrayal of soldiers on screen. Sunny Deol shared that many soldiers have told him they were inspired to join the army after watching his films and listening to his dialogues. “That is why I am with you all. I am your family,” he said, drawing applause from the jawans gathered at the event.

Ending his brief address on a familiar patriotic note, Sunny asked aloud how far his voice should reach, before answering himself with a rousing line: “Till Lahore!” The statement, echoing his iconic on-screen persona, brought cheers from the crowd and reinforced the emotional charge of the evening.

The launch event also featured a powerful symbolic moment when Ahan Shetty touched Sunny Deol’s feet on stage, a gesture that drew attention for its respect and emotional weight. The moment was widely seen as a tribute to Sunny’s enduring legacy, particularly his iconic role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri in the original Border (1997), which remains a defining war film in Indian cinema.

Unveiling Ghar Kab Aaoge at Longewala–Tanot gave the event a deeper meaning beyond film promotion. The song was launched in the presence of the very soldiers whose sacrifices the Border franchise seeks to honour, turning the evening into a moment of remembrance and gratitude.

Originally composed by Anu Malik, the iconic track has been reimagined for Border 2 with music by Mithoon. The updated version features additional lyrics by Manoj Muntashir Shukla, building on the original words penned by Javed Akhtar. Vocals for the song have been rendered by Roopkumar Rathod, Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra and Diljit Dosanjh.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, along with Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh. Presented by T-Series in association with JP Films, the film is slated for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.
