Mannara Chopra Calls Malti a ‘Proper LA Baby’, Talks About Bond With Priyanka Chopra

Actor Mannara Chopra has spoken about her close relationship with cousin Priyanka Chopra, describing the global star as a guiding sister rather than a godmother figure. She also shared an affectionate update about Priyanka’s daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, calling her a “proper LA baby.”

In an interview with Filmygyan, Mannara reflected on how her bond with Priyanka has evolved over the years, especially in recent times.

‘She guides me like a sister’

When asked whether she sees Priyanka as a godmother figure, Mannara dismissed the idea and instead emphasised their sisterly connection.

“She is my sister. Recently, she was visiting India and I went to meet her. You can just take your heart out and tell her what you’re feeling. She doesn’t try to solve everything for you, but she guides you in such a proper way,” Mannara said.

She added that her interactions with Priyanka have become more emotional in the past couple of years. “Earlier, our meetings were all fun and giggles. Now, I’m always hugging her. I feel very emotional whenever I am around her,” she shared.

‘Malti mostly speaks English’

Mannara also spoke about Priyanka and Nick Jonas’ daughter Malti and her language skills. Asked whether the toddler speaks Hindi, Mannara said Malti primarily communicates in English.

“She speaks properly in English. Of course, she has picked up a few Hindi words. She is still very young. The last time I met her was during my brother’s wedding this year. I’ll be able to tell you more the next time I meet her,” she said, adding with a smile, “She is a proper LA baby.”

About the Chopra–Jonas family

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got engaged in 2018 and tied the knot later that year in a grand wedding featuring both Hindu and Christian ceremonies at Umaid Bhawan Palace. The couple welcomed their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas via surrogacy in January 2022.

Mannara Chopra, who is also the cousin of Parineeti Chopra, made her Bollywood debut with Zid and has worked across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu cinema. She later gained wider recognition after appearing on Bigg Boss 17, where she emerged as one of the finalists.
