Violence spread to Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city and a future World Cup host, where burning vehicles and shuttered businesses turned neighbourhoods into near-deserted zones.

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro urged residents to remain indoors, suspended public transport and warned that the state was facing “critical hours.”

Authorities in Jalisco, Michoacán and Guanajuato reported multiple fatalities linked to the unrest, including security personnel. Clashes between cartel gunmen and security forces were reported as authorities attempted to restore order.

Schools in affected regions cancelled classes while security operations intensified.

The United States and Canada issued shelter-in-place advisories for citizens in affected states. The Indian Embassy in Mexico also urged Indian nationals to stay indoors, avoid crowds and limit movement amid ongoing security operations.
