Aakash Chopra Backs Bangladesh Ahead of Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 Clash vs India

Former India batter Aakash Chopra has backed Bangladesh to put up a strong performance against India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash in Dubai. While India enters the September 24 fixture unbeaten in the tournament and dominant over Bangladesh in T20Is, Chopra believes the Litton Das-led side has the momentum to challenge the favourites.

On his YouTube channel, Chopra praised Bangladesh’s resurgence and their passionate fanbase, noting that the team deserves better results after overcoming a tough start in the tournament.

Bangladesh is competitive, and their fans are passionate. They didn’t perform as well initially but have reached here and won their previous game, so expectations are they should perform well against India,” Chopra said.

Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons shared a similar view, stressing that matches are decided on the day rather than past records, and that his team has the ability to challenge India like any other opponent.

Statistically, India hold a significant edge, winning 18 of 19 T20Is against Bangladesh, with the lone defeat coming in 2019. India also whitewashed Bangladesh 3-0 in last year’s home series and secured a 50-run win over them at the T20 World Cup months prior. In Asia Cup history, India have won 13 of 15 encounters against Bangladesh.

Despite the historical dominance, Bangladesh will draw confidence from their recent Asia Cup 50-over edition win in 2023 and their Super 4 opener victory over Sri Lanka, setting the stage for an exciting contest against India.
