Happy Nursery: From Half an Acre to Gujarat’s Green Powerhouse

Palanpur, Gujarat (News Desk): What began as a modest half-acre plot in 1991 has today blossomed into one of North Gujarat’s most influential nurseries. Happy Nursery, founded by visionary farmer Ladhaji Jethaji Sankhla, has grown into a 10-acre hub of greenery, nurturing over 5 lakh plants and more than 1,500 varieties year-round.

A Vision Rooted in Nature

The story of Happy Nursery is deeply tied to its founder’s mission — to promote farming, tree plantation, and love for nature. Guided by this vision, the nursery started small but steadily grew, with each generation adding scale and new ideas.

Family-Led Expansion

In 1994, Pareshkumar Ladhaji Sankhla joined his father’s mission, expanding the nursery to 5 acres and broadening its plant collection. Two decades later, in 2015, Ghanshyam Pareshkumar Sankhla carried forward the legacy, establishing a new branch that pushed the total land under cultivation to 10 acres. Together, the family has transformed the nursery into a regional landmark for horticulture.

Green Impact & Employment

Today, Happy Nursery is more than just a plant supplier — it is an ecosystem supporting local livelihoods. The nursery provides employment to 50+ workers, while also supplying plants to over 250 small nurseries, 25 gardeners, and countless farmers who buy in bulk for fruit and flower cultivation.

Journey of Sourcing & Cultivation

In the early years, Happy Nursery relied on locally sourced seeds and small-bag cultivation for direct sales. Over time, Pareshkumar expanded the model by sourcing seeds, cuttings, and plants from across Gujarat. With Ghanshyam’s entry, sourcing extended beyond the state, significantly improving both the quality and diversity of plant varieties.

Scaling Up Business & Regional Horticulture

The nursery now records annual sales of over 15 lakh plants, supplying not just saplings but also essential equipment for horticulture businesses. By supporting small nurseries and farmers, Happy Nursery has become a backbone for the region’s green economy.

Looking Ahead

From humble beginnings to becoming a 10-acre green powerhouse, Happy Nursery embodies the power of vision, family effort, and community impact. As demand for sustainable farming and landscaping continues to rise, the nursery is poised to play an even bigger role in shaping the future of horticulture in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and beyond.
