CBSE Releases Tentative Datesheet for Class 10 and 12 Board Exams 2026: Full Schedule Details

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the tentative datesheet for the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, providing students, parents, and teachers with early clarity on the schedule.

According to the notification, the exams will be held from February 17 to July 15, 2026, covering both domestic and international centres.

The tentative schedule includes:

  • Main Examinations for Classes 10 and 12

  • Examinations for Sports Category students (Class 12)

  • Second Board Examinations (Class 10)

  • Supplementary Examinations (Class 12)

45 Lakh Students to Appear

In 2026, nearly 45 lakh candidates are expected to take the exams across 204 subjects. Students will participate not only from across India but also from 26 countries abroad, underlining CBSE’s expanding global reach.

Alongside the written exams, the board will also conduct practicals, evaluation, and post-result processes to ensure timely declaration of results.

Why a Tentative Datesheet Now?

CBSE has explained that releasing the timetable early will help students and schools prepare more systematically. The dates have been planned based on Class 9 and Class 11 registration data for 2025.

According to the board, this move will:

  • Allow students to design structured study plans for effective preparation.

  • Help schools plan academic and administrative responsibilities, including assigning teachers for evaluation and invigilation.

  • Give teachers more clarity for their personal schedules and vacations.

A Structured Approach for 2026

With over 45 lakh examinees, the 2026 board cycle is among the largest in CBSE’s history. The board has stressed the importance of systematic planning and coordination among all stakeholders.

While the final datesheet will be released closer to the exam period, this tentative timeline offers an early framework for preparation and smooth conduct of the exams.
