Cyclone Montha Hits Andhra Pradesh Coast | CM Naidu Leads ‘Zero Casualty’ Relief Operation

Cyclone Montha made landfall near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, unleashing heavy rainfall, high-speed winds, and rough sea conditions. As the storm battered the coastal regions, the state government swiftly activated emergency protocols under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, emphasizing his “Zero Casualty” mission.

In a live report from the ground, India Today correspondent Apoorva Jai Chandran detailed the administration’s preparedness and the proactive steps being taken to minimize damage. The operation, supported by TDP Rajya Sabha MP Sana Sathish, highlights a coordinated response between state authorities, CRPF personnel, and Naval rescue teams.

Sana Sathish reaffirmed the Chief Minister’s directive — “Our Honorable Chief Minister’s motto is that not a single life should be lost.” The TDP MP also supervised the evacuation of vulnerable coastal residents to cyclone shelters and the continuous monitoring of affected districts by the Disaster Management Authority.

The state has deployed dozens of relief teams, ensured round-the-clock power restoration units, and established medical camps across East and West Godavari districts. Fishing operations remain suspended, and coastal villages have been advised to stay indoors until official clearance is given.

Drawing parallels to the 1996 Andhra cyclone, which claimed thousands of lives, the administration has prioritized real-time communication and accurate weather updates. Officials have warned against spreading fake news or relying on unverified social media posts, urging citizens to depend on government bulletins and alerts from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Chief Minister Naidu, known for his focus on disaster management and technological integration, has ensured that the state control room operates 24/7. Early warnings, preemptive evacuations, and inter-agency coordination have helped Andhra Pradesh avoid major casualties so far.

The situation continues to be monitored closely, with authorities remaining vigilant for any secondary weather disturbances. Relief and rehabilitation work are expected to continue through the coming week, as the government emphasizes both human safety and rapid infrastructure recovery.
