Kokuyo Workplace India: Rebranding HNI India to Drive Asia-Pacific Leadership by 2030

Japanese stationery and furniture conglomerate Kokuyo Co., Ltd. has officially rebranded its Indian subsidiary, HNI India, as Kokuyo Workplace India Limited. The transformation marks a significant milestone in the company’s global growth strategy, positioning India as a central hub for its Asia-Pacific operations.

The rebranding comes after Kokuyo’s full acquisition of HNI India earlier this year. The company now aims to capture a larger share of India’s fast-expanding office furniture market, targeting 15–20% growth in FY25, with accelerated momentum anticipated as its integration efforts mature.

A Unified Vision for Growth

The rebranding initiative reflects Kokuyo’s broader ambition to blend Japanese craftsmanship with India’s vibrant and evolving market. According to Managing Director Karan Sachdev, the new identity represents “a renewed purpose” — one focused on creating adaptive, sustainable, and human-centric workplaces. By merging precision design with India’s agile business landscape, Kokuyo seeks to emerge as Asia’s leading workplace solutions brand by 2030.

Expanding Footprint and Innovation Drive

Kokuyo Workplace India has outlined aggressive expansion plans, aiming to strengthen its presence in major metropolitan areas and emerging business hubs by the end of the decade. The company will unveil its refreshed brand identity at Orgatec India 2025 in Mumbai, one of the country’s largest workplace innovation exhibitions.

In a major step toward product diversification, Kokuyo will also bring its Japanese-designed furniture range to India for the first time. The portfolio will focus on well-being, flexibility, and collaboration—aligning with evolving hybrid work models and ergonomic needs.

Currently, the company operates a 350,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Nagpur, serving both domestic and international markets. Future investments will prioritize sustainable design innovation, eco-friendly materials, and smart manufacturing practices under the company’s “Make in India, for the World” mission.

India’s Rising Role in Global Office Design

The global office furniture industry is expected to grow at a 6–8% CAGR through 2030, with the Asia-Pacific region contributing significantly to overall revenue. India stands out as one of the most promising markets, driven by corporate expansion, start-up culture, and a nationwide focus on wellness-oriented and ergonomic workspaces.

With a diverse portfolio that includes Camlin, Lamex, ACTUS, ESTIC, and Formax, Kokuyo aims to redefine modern workplaces by fusing Japanese minimalism with Indian adaptability.

As global work dynamics shift towards creativity, comfort, and sustainability, Kokuyo Workplace India’s rebranding signals more than a name change — it reflects a strategic pivot toward design-driven leadership, reinforcing India’s growing influence in the global workspace ecosystem.
