Diddy Sentencing Remarks: Rapper Breaks Down in Court, Says ‘I Lost My Self-Respect’ Before Jail Term

In an emotional courtroom address, rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs broke down in tears before being sentenced to four years and two months in prison on prostitution-related charges.

The 55-year-old music mogul apologised for his actions and said he had “lost his self-respect” amid months of scandal and courtroom drama that shook the entertainment industry.

Diddy’s Emotional Courtroom Confession

Speaking before Indian-American Judge Arun Subramanian, Diddy expressed deep remorse for his past behaviour and pleaded for a chance to rebuild his life.

“One of the hardest things that I’ve had to handle is having to be quiet, not being able to express how sorry I am for my actions,” he said, his voice trembling as quoted by BBC.

He added, “Most of all, I lost my self-respect. I've been stripped down to nothing. I really am truly sorry for it all, no matter what they say.”

The statement came moments before the court handed down his sentence for arranging drug-fueled sexual encounters involving paid escorts — charges that have dominated global headlines.

Apology to Victims and Family

Combs specifically apologised to Casandra Ventura (Cassie) and another woman identified only as Jane, both of whom had accused him of years of physical and sexual abuse.

He reflected on the fallout from his actions — the loss of his family, strained relationships with his children, and the collapse of his once-thriving business empire.

“Most of all, I lost my self-respect,” he repeated. “I’ve been stripped down to nothing.”

His children were present in court and offered emotional appeals. His daughter Jessie Combs, 18, told the judge, “We aren’t here to excuse any of his mistakes. But, your honor, he is still our dad, and we still need him present in our lives.”

The Charges and Conviction

Combs was convicted in July on two counts of arranging for paid male escorts to cross state lines for drug-fueled sexual performances — referred to in court as “Freak Offs.”

During these events, he reportedly recorded videos and participated in the encounters. However, he was acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges, which could have led to a life sentence.

Judge Arun Subramanian noted that the sentencing reflected “both the seriousness of Combs’ conduct and the need for deterrence.”

Aftermath and Industry Reaction

The sentencing marks a dramatic downfall for the rapper once celebrated for his entrepreneurial empire spanning music, fashion, and media.

Industry insiders say the ruling could have long-term implications for accountability and conduct in the entertainment industry, where allegations of abuse and exploitation have often gone unpunished.

While Combs’ legal team has yet to announce an appeal, the rapper’s statement hinted at a desire for personal reform — a far cry from the larger-than-life persona that once defined him.
