The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially released the Class 10 datesheet for the October–November 2025 session, announcing a 15% syllabus relaxation for students across the Kashmir Division and Kargil district.

The Class 10 exams will be held from November 3 to November 27, 2025, with the first paper being Mathematics. This decision comes as a relief to thousands of students who faced academic disruptions due to extreme weather conditions and a delayed academic session.

15% Syllabus Relaxation Announced

In a major decision, JKBOSE granted 15% syllabus relaxation to students of Classes 10, 11, and 12 appearing in the Annual Regular 2025 examinations across:

  • Kashmir Division

  • Winter zone areas of Jammu Division

  • Union Territory of Ladakh

As per the official notification dated October 4, this relaxation has been provided due to weather-related disruptions like heatwaves, torrential rains, and floods that affected the school calendar.

“Students will be required to attempt only 85% of the total marks in the question paper, which will be considered equivalent to 100% marks,” the notification stated.

Though the question paper will cover the complete syllabus, students will benefit from internal choices, allowing them to attempt 85% of the paper comfortably. Additionally, each Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) will be assessed individually, and this system will apply to language grammar sections as well.

Decision Based on Stakeholder Feedback

JKBOSE stated that the decision followed consultations with the Directorates of School Education (Kashmir and Jammu) and inputs from students, teachers, and other stakeholders who requested a reduction in the syllabus due to academic challenges.

The move is expected to reduce exam stress and ensure fair evaluation for students affected by the disrupted academic year.

Education officials added that this initiative will help maintain academic continuity while ensuring that learning outcomes are not compromised.

Key Takeaways:

  • Exams: November 3–27, 2025

  • Divisions Covered: Kashmir, Kargil, Winter Zone Jammu

  • Relaxation: 15% syllabus cut; attempt 85% of paper = full marks

  • Reason: Academic disruptions due to extreme weather

Conclusion

The JKBOSE Class 10 Exam 2025 schedule and the 15% syllabus relaxation reflect the board’s efforts to prioritize students’ welfare amid challenges. With sufficient internal choices and a flexible marking approach, JKBOSE ensures that academic assessments remain equitable and stress-free for students across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
