Jolly LLB 3 Review: Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi Impress but Saurabh Shukla Steals the Show

Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB 3 blends satire, courtroom drama, and social commentary with sharp writing and strong performances. While Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi bring back their trademark desi charm as flawed yet earnest lawyers, it is Saurabh Shukla, reprising his role as Judge Tripathi, who delivers the film’s most memorable moments.

The narrative is rooted in a farmer’s suicide and the legal battle his widow, Janki (Seema Biswas), takes up against industrialist Haribhai Khetan (Gajraj Rao). The case exposes the human cost of corporate ambition, loosely reflecting real-world land acquisition protests. Kapoor weaves humour with hard-hitting questions, ensuring the film never slips into monotony.

Akshay Kumar’s punchlines land effortlessly, while Arshad Warsi’s understated wit lingers long after. Their chemistry feels genuine, and their evolution from survival-driven advocates to morally conflicted men adds emotional depth.

Shukla, however, dominates the courtroom. His portrayal of Judge Tripathi balances biting sarcasm with surprising subtlety, even hinting at a softer personal side. His presence elevates the film, making it more than just another courtroom comedy.

The screenplay occasionally falters — a stretched musical sequence and a forced camel-racing scene feel out of place. Rao’s villainous tycoon lacks nuance, though the flaw lies more in the writing than in his performance. Still, the story retains its bite, with satire, humour, and emotional resonance working in tandem.

With its mix of laughter, conscience, and critique of systemic flaws, Jolly LLB 3 proves why the franchise continues to resonate. It may not be the most polished courtroom drama, but it entertains while asking the right questions.
