Karisma Kapoor’s Children Accuse Priya Kapur of “Cinderella Stepmother” Role in Sanjay Kapur Assets Battle

Karisma Kapoor’s Children Accuse Priya Kapur of “Cinderella Stepmother” Role in Sanjay Kapur Assets Battle

The inheritance dispute over late businessman Sanjay Kapur’s assets has taken a dramatic turn as Karisma Kapoor’s children accused Priya Kapur of giving them a “Cinderella stepmother” treatment. They allege that Priya diverted assets to her own children while limiting their shares, intensifying the legal battle over a disputed will.

Allegations of a Forged Will

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma’s children, called the newly surfaced will a “manifestly forged document” and part of a larger conspiracy. He noted that there was sufficient evidence to lodge a criminal complaint.

The children claim they were only informed about the will on July 30, despite it being executed on March 21. Jethmalani highlighted that the executor, a close friend of Sanjay Kapur, was never informed of her appointment by him, calling this suspicious and inconsistent with Sanjay Kapur’s conduct.

Fiduciary Breach Allegations

Emails presented in court allegedly showed Priya Kapur prioritizing her personal assets while giving the children limited information. The allocations reportedly included:

  • Priya Kapur: ~60% of assets

  • Her son: ~12%

  • Trust: 75%

Jethmalani said Priya’s hurried preparation of letters and beneficiary forms appeared aimed at restricting Karisma Kapoor’s children’s shares, demonstrating a focus on her own family’s interests.

“Cinderella Stepmother” Claim

“This is a Cinderella stepmother,” Jethmalani told the court, pointing to Priya Kapur’s actions in allocating assets and limiting shares of the children. The claim reflects the ongoing perception of unfair treatment in the estate distribution.

Court Proceedings and Status Quo Request

Priya Kapur’s counsel requested an inquiry into leaked documents shown to the media. Meanwhile, Karisma’s children sought a status quo on all assets to prevent further movement or creation of third-party rights.

Jethmalani added that while their immediate request was for status quo, Priya Kapur’s conduct “speaks volumes” about her entitlement to these assets, raising serious concerns in the ongoing legal battle.

The case continues to unfold in court, keeping Bollywood and legal observers closely watching developments in the Kapur family inheritance dispute.
