Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge Receives Threat Calls Over RSS Ban Demand

Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has reportedly received multiple threatening calls following his appeal to the state Chief Minister for a ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activities in the state. The minister revealed that the calls not only targeted him but also involved abusive messages against his wife, children, and senior Congress leaders.

Audio Evidence and Alleged Threats

Responding to BJP leaders who dismissed his claims as a political gimmick, Kharge presented an audio sample from one of the callers. He stated,

“Very clearly in the audio he says, 'Main RSS se dulha hoon.' That means he is completely immersed in the ideology of RSS.”

Kharge alleged that the abusive calls were made by individuals associated with the RSS, highlighting the growing intensity of political rhetoric in the state.

Action Taken

Following the threats, Kharge wrote to the Union Home Ministry requesting immediate action against those responsible. Karnataka Home Minister has assured that necessary measures will be taken to address the security concerns of Kharge and his family.

The development comes amid heightened tensions in Karnataka over political disagreements surrounding the RSS and its activities, with the minister’s demand for a ban drawing significant public and political attention.

Political Reactions

While BJP leaders termed Kharge’s allegations as a “gimmick,” the minister’s evidence and public statements have intensified the debate on safety, freedom of expression, and political intimidation in the state.

As authorities investigate the threats, the incident underscores the challenges faced by politicians raising concerns against influential organisations, highlighting the need for prompt action and security protocols.
