Meerut minor girl harassment: Man arrested after CCTV video goes viral
Meerut police have arrested 20-year-old Jaanu alias Jaane Alam for harassing and throttling a 14-year-old girl in the Kithaur area. The shocking incident, which occurred on October 3, 2025, was captured on CCTV cameras and later shared by authorities on social media to highlight swift police action.
Incident details
The victim, a girl from Ghaziabad visiting her grandmother’s village, confronted the accused for allegedly secretly recording and sharing her video. When she demanded to see his phone, he allegedly grabbed her neck and misbehaved with her, prompting locals to rush to her aid.
During his escape, the accused fell into a pit and fractured his right arm, requiring medical treatment. Police apprehended him near Shahjahanpur canal road after a brief chase.
Legal action
A complaint lodged by the girl’s father led to the registration of a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with relevant IPC sections. Authorities have confirmed that forensic and digital examinations are underway and the investigation is ongoing.
Police praised the quick response of locals and officers and emphasized that such vigilant action is crucial in ensuring the safety of minors.
