NEET UG 2025 Seat Matrix: NMC Adds 9,075 MBBS Seats, Total Now 1,26,600

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the NEET UG 2025 seat matrix, increasing India’s total MBBS capacity to 1,26,600 seats for the 2025–26 session. The update introduces 9,075 new MBBS seats across several states while 456 seats were removed due to court cases and compliance issues.

Among major expansions, Santhiram Medical College, Nandyal, raised its intake from 150 to 250, and Anna Gowri Medical College and Hospital received approval for 150 new seats. States like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka lead the surge in medical education infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research lost 150 seats amid legal proceedings. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the Round 3 choice-filling deadline to October 13, 2025, allowing aspirants to revise preferences on mcc.nic.in.

Experts view the expansion as a key step toward addressing India’s doctor shortage, though they caution students to stay updated on court rulings and final allotments that may impact seat availability.
