PM Modi Childhood Film ‘Chalo Jeete Hain’ to Be Screened in Schools Across India

The Ministry of Education has directed schools under CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to screen the film Chalo Jeete Hain, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s childhood experiences. This initiative is part of the Prerana experiential learning programme, which focuses on building values, character, and social-emotional skills among students nationwide.

The screenings are scheduled from September 16 to October 2, 2025, coinciding with PM Modi’s birthday on September 17. According to the ministry, the film aims to encourage young learners to reflect on themes like responsibility, empathy, self-reflection, and critical thinking.

Prerana, the experiential learning initiative, has already reached 65 batches across 650 districts. Originating from the historic Vernacular School of Vadnagar in Gujarat—where PM Modi began his education—the program revolves around nine core human values:

  • Swabhiman aur Vinay (Self-Respect and Humility)

  • Shaurya aur Sahas (Courage and Bravery)

  • Parishram aur Samarpan (Hard Work and Dedication)

  • Satyanishtha aur Shuchita (Integrity and Cleanliness)

  • Karuna aur Seva (Compassion and Service)

  • Navachar aur Jigyasa (Innovation and Curiosity)

  • Vividhta aur Ekta (Diversity and Unity)

  • Shraddha aur Vishwas (Faith and Trust)

  • Swatantrata aur Kartavya (Freedom and Duty)

To enhance experiential learning, Prerana uses storytelling, hands-on activities, value-based sessions, indigenous games, and audio-visual tools. Chalo Jeete Hain embodies all nine values and highlights Swami Vivekananda’s principle: “Only those who live for others, actually live.” First released in 2018, the film won the National Award for Best Non-Feature Film on Family Values at the 66th National Film Awards.

Schools have been asked to screen the film to help students learn moral decision-making, empathy, and critical thinking. Following the first cycle of Prerana, preparations for the second phase, Prerana Utsav, will begin in October 2025, with schools encouraged to ensure broad participation.
