Saiyaara star Aneet Padda recalls scam auditions and emailing 70 producers

Actor Aneet Padda, who gained widespread recognition with Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’, recently opened up about her early struggles in the film industry. In an interview with Cosmopolitan India, she revealed how, at just 17, she encountered scam websites while searching for auditions and sent nearly 50–70 cold emails to production houses seeking genuine opportunities.

Reflecting on her journey, Aneet shared that her passion for acting began at age 10 after a school play. “At the time, I felt acting was an interesting way of being ‘weird’ and one that was applauded,” she said, adding that this encouragement stayed with her despite initial doubts from friends and family.

Determined to pursue her dream, Aneet explored online auditions but quickly realised the prevalence of fraud. “Almost every production house in the Hindi film industry has my audition tape, a terrible biodata, and Snapchat filter pictures,” she laughed. During the pandemic, she sent numerous cold emails before understanding that casting agencies typically manage professional opportunities.

Aneet made her debut in Revathi’s ‘Salaam Venky’ alongside Kajol and Vishal Jethwa, and later starred in the Prime Video series ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’. However, it was ‘Saiyaara’ that truly propelled her to fame, with the romantic drama grossing Rs 569.75 crore worldwide in 2025.
