SSC Announces CGL 2025 Re-Exam in Mumbai on October 14 After Fire Incident

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced that candidates affected by a fire incident during the Tier 1 Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2025 in Mumbai will be allowed to reappear on October 14, 2025.

The Tier 1 exam was conducted over 15 days across 255 centres in 126 cities, with around 13.5 lakh candidates appearing out of 28 lakh applicants.

Candidate Feedback and Verification

The Commission received 18,920 feedback submissions through its Candidate Feedback Portal reporting technical issues and other disruptions. These submissions were cross-verified with digital records. Candidates whose disruptions were verified have been given the opportunity to reappear.

New Initiatives and Security Measures

This examination cycle piloted laptop-based testing, allowing thousands of candidates to take the exam electronically. Aadhaar-based authentication, including face verification, was implemented to ensure secure identity verification. Exams were also conducted in remote areas such as Kavaratti (Lakshadweep) and Leh, with 93% of candidates allocated to their preferred cities.

The Commission also reported malpractice incidents, including misuse of PwBD provisions and attempts at remote access. Candidates with conclusive evidence of malpractice will be debarred, while those with ambiguous evidence are allowed to appear in the re-exam.

Upcoming Exam Events

The question challenge process for selection posts will begin around October 15. Applications for Delhi Police exams and SI CPO 2025 have opened, with Constable GD 2026 applications scheduled in November. Tier 1 exams for CHSL, SI CPO 2025, JE, and MTS will follow, with exact dates to be notified by the Commission.

The SSC’s move ensures candidates affected by unforeseen incidents are given a fair chance to compete, reflecting the Commission’s commitment to transparency and exam integrity.
