Trump Demands Apology from Kamala Harris Over 2024 Election Claim

Former US President Donald Trump launched a sharp critique of former Vice President Kamala Harris on Truth Social, calling her “DUMB AS A ROCK” and demanding an apology after Harris described the 2024 presidential race as “the closest Presidential Election in the 21st Century.”

“Kamala Harris is going around and using, as a standard part of her speech on why she lost the election, that 2024 was the ‘closest Presidential Election in the 21st Century,’” Trump wrote. “Everyone knows this is a lie, and was covered as such by Fox News!”

Trump defended the decisiveness of his 2024 victory, citing a 312–226 Electoral College margin and a popular vote lead “by MILLIONS.” He added that he carried all seven swing states and most counties nationwide. “Bush, as an example, won the election by 537 votes, and many other elections were very close. Kamala’s ‘closest in the 21st Century’ soundbite was, like everything else in the Democrat Party, A TOTAL LIE!”

Harris, meanwhile, continues her book tour for 107 Days, in which she frames the 2024 election as tightly contested. Speaking to ABC News, she explained the structural challenges she faced after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race in July 2024, leaving her just over three months to mount a nationwide campaign against Trump.

“Biden decides not to run. The sitting vice president then takes the mantle, running against a former president of the United States who had been running for ten years, with 107 days until the election,” Harris said. She acknowledged missteps during the campaign, including an October 2024 interview on The View where she struggled to differentiate herself from Biden.

Despite her clarifications, Trump’s public rebuke underscores the ongoing tensions between the former president and his political rivals. He concluded his Truth Social post by asserting his expectation for a formal apology from Harris.
