The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, has announced the opening of applications for its Master of Science (MSc) in Machine Learning and Deep Learning programme for the January 2026 intake. The programme aims to develop next-generation AI professionals with expertise in data analytics, machine learning, deep neural networks, and intelligent systems.
This interdisciplinary course has been designed to address the global demand for AI and data science specialists, blending research-led training with practical, project-based learning. Students will gain hands-on experience in designing and implementing advanced artificial intelligence systems while learning to solve complex real-world problems across industries.
The curriculum covers deep neural architectures, algorithmic optimisation, intelligent automation, and AI-based decision-making, offering a robust foundation in both theoretical and applied aspects of artificial intelligence.
The MSc programme is jointly delivered by the Departments of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) and Computer and Information Sciences (CIS), ensuring a balance of engineering precision and computational innovation.
Through coursework and laboratory sessions, students will work on industry-linked projects that reflect real-world challenges. Faculty members involved in cutting-edge AI research and global collaborations will mentor students, helping them bridge the gap between academia and industry.
A distinctive aspect of this MSc is its strong research orientation. Students will undertake projects involving data-driven automation, autonomous systems, and intelligent control technologies, supported by the university’s advanced research infrastructure.
The programme emphasises the use of industry-standard AI tools and programming languages, including Python, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, to strengthen students’ technical proficiency and employability.
Applicants must possess a first-class or upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in electronic/electrical engineering, computer science, or related disciplines.
For non-native English speakers, a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 is required, with no individual band lower than 5.5.
The tuition fee for international students is £31,100, but self-funded international students enrolling for the January 2026 full-time intake will receive an automatic £5,000 scholarship deduction.
