Pakistan sealed a dominant 3-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka with a convincing six-wicket victory in the third ODI at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The hosts chased down a modest target of 212 with ease, powered by composed half-centuries from Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman, along with a steady finish by Hussain Talat.
Sri Lanka, sent in to bat first, were bowled out for 211 in 45.2 overs. Mohammad Wasim Jr delivered a standout performance with figures of 3/47, dismantling the middle order and earning the Player of the Match award. Haris Rauf, who contributed crucial breakthroughs throughout the series, was named Player of the Series for his nine wickets at an impressive average of 18.33.
Sri Lanka began positively with openers Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara putting up 55 runs inside the first eight overs. However, both fell in quick succession — Nissanka bowled by Haris Rauf for 24, and Mishara edging Wasim Jr for 29.
Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama attempted to rebuild with a 43-run stand, but Pakistan’s bowlers took control once again. Wasim bowled Mendis for 34, and further strikes from Faisal Akram and Rauf left Sri Lanka struggling at 143/5.
Samarawickrama’s gritty 48 offered resistance, but once he was dismissed by a sharp turning delivery from Faisal Akram, the lower order crumbled. Pawan Rathnayake’s brisk 32 lifted the total marginally, but Sri Lanka ultimately folded well below a competitive score.
Pakistan’s reply was confident from the outset. Fakhar Zaman set the tone with a fluent 55 off 45 balls, while Mohammad Rizwan anchored the innings with an unbeaten 61 off 92 deliveries.
Even as Jeffrey Vandersay triggered a brief collapse with a three-wicket burst, Pakistan regained control through a calm, unbeaten 100-run partnership between Rizwan and Hussain Talat, who finished with 42* off 57 balls. Their steady approach ensured Pakistan crossed the finish line in 44.4 overs.
With the win, Pakistan completed a flawless 3-0 sweep, showcasing clinical batting depth, disciplined bowling, and controlled execution throughout the series.
