The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is set to begin the highly anticipated Group D 2025 examinations (CEN 08/2024) from November 27, with the test cycle scheduled to continue until January 16, 2026. Lakhs of candidates are gearing up for one of India’s largest recruitment drives, and the Board has now issued a detailed exam-day checklist along with crucial guidelines.

RRB has also activated the link for Group D 2025 admit cards, enabling candidates to download their hall tickets from the official regional portals.

Massive Recruitment Drive for 32,438 Posts

This recruitment cycle aims to fill 32,438 Level 1 posts under the 7th CPC pay matrix. The vacancies include positions such as:

  • Assistant Bridge

  • Track Maintainer

  • Cabin Man

  • Pointsman

  • And several other technical and safety-designated posts

With competition running into lakhs, the RRB has reinforced a comprehensive rulebook to ensure fair, transparent and incident-free examinations.

Exam-Day Guidelines: What Candidates Must Follow

RRB has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for malpractice. Any attempt to cheat, impersonate or involve someone else in the exam will result in permanent debarment from all future RRB/RRC recruitments. Railway employees caught violating rules may also face termination and legal action.

Items Strictly Prohibited Inside Exam Centres

Candidates must NOT carry:

  • Mobile phones, smart devices, watches

  • Calculators, Bluetooth gadgets, electronic accessories

  • Laptops, earphones, pen drives

  • Wallets, belts, shoes

  • Jewellery, metallic items, rings, chains

Many exam centres do not provide lockers, so candidates are advised to avoid bringing barred items altogether.

Exam Pattern

  • The exam will be conducted as a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT).

  • If required, RRB may introduce additional stages.

  • Candidates clearing the CBT will undergo:

    1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

    2. Document Verification (DV)

    3. Medical Examination

RRB will apply normalisation of marks if the CBT is held in multiple shifts.

Free Travel Facility for SC/ST Candidates

SC/ST candidates who opted for free travel during registration and uploaded valid caste certificates will receive a Sleeper Class Railway Pass along with their e-call letter.

Important rules include:

  • Candidates must carry their original caste certificate during travel.

  • Boarding must be from the station selected during online registration.

  • Misuse of the travel pass can lead to candidature cancellation and future debarment.

Marking Scheme and Shortlisting Process

  • One-third mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for PET at three times the number of vacancies.

  • Document verification and medical test shortlisting will be on a 1:1 ratio.

  • All updates will be communicated via the official RRB portals, SMS, and email.

Candidates must thoroughly read the instructions on their admit cards, follow all exam rules, and arrive at the centre well ahead of reporting time to avoid last-minute issues.
