The name Anil Pandit has emerged in investigations into a series of shootings and threats involving Indian celebrities and businesses. An alleged overseas operative associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Pandit has been linked by police investigations and purported online responsibility claims to incidents in Panipat, Delhi and, most recently, Mumbai.
Following the October 18 firing targeting actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai's Juhu area, an audio recording attributed to Pandit surfaced, warning Bollywood celebrities against working with Salman Khan. Shroff reportedly escaped without gunshot injuries, while his driver was injured. Police are investigating the attack and examining the authenticity of the claims.
Who Is Anil Pandit?
Anil Pandit is believed to be operating from the United States and has been described as an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's overseas network. His name has appeared alongside other alleged operatives, including Randeep Malik and Harry Boxer, in social media posts claiming responsibility for shootings and in police investigations.
However, his precise position within the gang, current whereabouts and alleged role in the latest Mumbai attack have not been conclusively established publicly.
March 2026: Panipat Shooting and Threat to Badshah
On March 14, motorcycle-borne assailants fired seven rounds at Haast Forex, a money-exchange office on Assandh Road in Panipat, Haryana. A social media message attributed to Pandit and Randeep Malik subsequently claimed responsibility and threatened rapper Badshah.
The message reportedly accused the establishment of involvement in illegal hawala transactions and criticised the rapper over alleged damage to Haryana's culture. The shooting targeted the money-exchange office, not Badshah.
Police investigations led to multiple arrests. Investigators alleged that overseas handlers promised money to the accused and that funds were transferred to a suspect's bank account.
June 2026: Shooting Outside Guru Randhawa's Gym
On June 11, two masked men allegedly fired seven rounds outside 24 HS Fitness in Delhi's Paschim Vihar, a gym associated with singer Guru Randhawa. Nobody was reported injured.
A purported social media post attributed to Pandit claimed responsibility and alleged that Randhawa had ignored warnings concerning his association with Salman Khan. Delhi Police subsequently arrested four suspects and reportedly linked them to overseas handlers, including Pandit and Harry Boxer.
Other Alleged Links and the Tiger Shroff Attack
Pandit's name has also surfaced in investigations involving a September shooting at a vehicle belonging to Haryanvi singer Diler Kharkiya and an alleged extortion and firearms-supply network in Delhi-NCR.
In the latest Mumbai incident, an online account bearing the name “Anil Pandit Anmol Bishnoi” reportedly claimed responsibility for the firing targeting Tiger Shroff. The account was later deleted, and an audio recording attributed to Pandit also emerged.
Police are examining the available evidence. A responsibility claim on social media or in an audio recording does not, by itself, establish who ordered or carried out an attack.
Why Is Anil Pandit's Name Under Scrutiny?
The cases have drawn attention to alleged links between overseas handlers and local shooters, including claims involving weapons, financial transfers and encrypted messaging applications. Investigators are working to establish the roles of individual suspects and the connections between separate incidents.
The Tiger Shroff shooting has renewed questions about how alleged criminal networks operating abroad may coordinate threats and violence in India. The extent of Pandit's involvement in each case remains subject to investigation.
