Akhanda 2 Box Office Day 5: Balakrishna Film Crosses Rs 70 Crore, Weekday Drop Continues

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2: Thaandavam has crossed the Rs 70 crore mark at the Indian box office within five days of its release, but the film is now showing signs of slowing momentum as weekday collections dip.

Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the high-voltage action drama opened to strong numbers, driven largely by festive buzz and Balakrishna’s loyal fan base in Telugu-speaking regions. However, after a powerful opening weekend, the film’s earnings have softened during the working days.

On Day 5 (Tuesday), Akhanda 2 collected an estimated Rs 4.35 crore nett in India, according to Sacnilk data. With this, the film’s total domestic collection stands at approximately Rs 70.70 crore.

The film recorded its highest traction over the weekend, with Sunday alone contributing over Rs 15 crore across languages. Monday saw a noticeable drop to Rs 5.25 crore, followed by a further decline on Tuesday, indicating a typical post-weekend slowdown.

Day-wise India Box Office Collection (Nett)

  • Day 0 (Paid premieres): Rs 8 crore

  • Day 1: Rs 22.5 crore

  • Day 2: Rs 15.5 crore

  • Day 3: Rs 15.1 crore

  • Day 4: Rs 5.25 crore

  • Day 5: Rs 4.35 crore

  • Total: Rs 70.70 crore

In terms of occupancy, the Telugu 2D version reported an overall 20.70 percent on Day 5. Morning shows started at 15.09 percent, gradually improving to 23.76 percent during night shows. Telugu 3D screenings recorded an overall 15.07 percent occupancy, while the Tamil 2D version stood at 14.23 percent.

Despite the weekday decline, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam continues to perform well in mass centres, where Balakrishna’s larger-than-life screen presence remains a major draw. The film’s action-heavy narrative, Thaman’s background score and Boyapati Srinu’s signature treatment have resonated strongly with core audiences.

The film also stars Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, Kabir Duhan Singh and Saswata Chatterjee in key roles. As the first full working week progresses, trade analysts will be closely watching whether the film can stabilise its collections and push further beyond the Rs 100 crore mark in the coming days.
