Premanand Maharaj Warns Hanuman Ansh Makers Against Adding Unverified Scenes for Popularity

Premanand Maharaj reportedly offered important spiritual guidance to the makers of Hanuman Ansh before they brought the story of Neem Karoli Baba to the big screen, warning them against distorting the life and teachings of a revered saint for dramatic appeal or popularity.

Producer Anupriya Nagar sought Premanand Maharaj's blessings and advice before developing the film. During their interaction, she asked whether making a film while following a spiritual path could also be considered a form of service.

Premanand Maharaj reportedly emphasised that portraying the lives of great spiritual personalities comes with significant responsibility. He cautioned filmmakers against introducing worldly elements simply to make a film more entertaining or commercially successful.

According to the spiritual leader's guidance, the portrayal of a saint should inspire qualities such as devotion, knowledge and detachment rather than focusing on elements added purely for dramatic effect.

He also warned the makers against including scenes, performances or details that could alter or distort the true character of the spiritual figure being portrayed.

Speaking about Neem Karoli Baba, Premanand Maharaj reportedly advised the team to remain faithful to verified accounts and known information about the saint. He cautioned against adding unverified incidents or fictional elements merely to attract larger audiences.

The guidance stressed that authenticity should remain more important than popularity. The makers were reportedly encouraged to present the saint's life with sincerity and care, even if avoiding sensational additions affected the film's commercial appeal.

Premanand Maharaj also highlighted the importance of spiritual discipline for those attempting to portray or recreate the life of a great spiritual personality. He suggested that sincerity, spiritual practice, a disciplined and sattvic lifestyle, studying the lives of saints and spending time in spiritual environments could help bring greater authenticity to such portrayals.

According to this approach, simply copying the external appearance or behaviour of a saint may not be enough to accurately represent their spiritual personality and teachings.

Meanwhile, Hanuman Ansh has attracted attention for its box office performance. The film, reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 1.8 crore, has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark within 25 days of its release, according to reported box office figures.

The film reportedly gained momentum after a relatively slow start and witnessed stronger audience interest later in its theatrical run.

Hanuman Ansh features Shobhinaw Satyaa in the role of Neem Karoli Baba, while Purnima Tiwari portrays his wife, Ram Beti Sharma.

The discussion around Premanand Maharaj's advice has also drawn attention to the larger responsibility involved in portraying revered spiritual personalities on screen, particularly the need to balance storytelling with authenticity and respect for their lives and teachings.
