BAFTA 2026 Winners List: One Battle After Another Wins Best Film

The BAFTA Awards 2026 delivered a night of cinematic excellence, surprise victories, and standout performances as the film One Battle After Another emerged as the biggest winner, claiming the Best Film award along with multiple honours. The ceremony took place on February 22 in London, with Alan Cumming hosting the prestigious event for the first time.

Dominating the evening, One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, secured six awards across major categories, including Best Director, Adapted Screen­play, Cinematography, and Editing. Its strong showing established it as one of the most celebrated films of the year.

British period drama Hamnet earned recognition as Outstanding British Film, while Jessie Buckley won Leading Actress for her performance in the film. The award reinforced the film’s critical acclaim and strong reception among audiences and critics alike.

Among performance categories, Robert Aramayo won Leading Actor for I Swear, marking a significant milestone in his career. Wunmi Mosaku received Supporting Actress for Sinners, while Sean Penn secured Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another.

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners also received recognition, winning Original Screenplay, while Sentimental Value took home the award for Film Not in the English Language.

In the children’s category, Boong won Children’s & Family Film, adding an international highlight to the ceremony. Meanwhile, Zootropolis 2 won Animated Film, and documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin secured the Documentary award.

Technical categories saw Frankenstein dominate in Costume Design, Make Up & Hair, and Production Design, showcasing its visual and artistic excellence. Avatar: Fire and Ash won Special Visual Effects, while F1 took the Sound award.

The Rising Star Award went to Robert Aramayo, further cementing his breakthrough year.

Despite entering the ceremony with multiple nominations, Marty Supreme left without major wins, shifting attention to the upcoming Oscars, where the film remains a strong contender.

The awards reflected a diverse spread of winners across genres, countries, and storytelling styles. From powerful dramas to visually stunning productions, BAFTA 2026 celebrated global cinema while recognising both established talent and emerging voices.
