Jio Platforms IPO Expected on October 21: What the ₹211 GMP Signals

Jio Platforms is expected to launch its ₹30,213-crore IPO on October 21, with a reported grey market premium of ₹211 ahead of the anticipated public offering.

Jio Platforms IPO grey market premium trends ahead of the expected October 21, 2026, public issue.
Jio Platforms' proposed IPO is expected to open on October 21, with the reported grey market premium easing to ₹211.

The proposed Jio Platforms IPO is drawing investor attention ahead of its expected opening on October 21, 2026. The Reliance Industries-backed digital services company could raise up to ₹30,213 crore, potentially making it India's largest-ever initial public offering (IPO).

According to market reports, the issue is expected to open for subscription on October 21 and close on October 23, with a tentative listing date of October 28. These dates remain subject to official confirmation through the company's offer documents.

The latest grey market premium (GMP) cited in the report stood at ₹211 per share on October 14 at 12:37 pm, compared with ₹218 on October 13. Other trackers reported a premium of around ₹215, highlighting differences in unofficial market quotations.

What Is Jio Platforms IPO GMP Today?

The grey market premium refers to the amount by which shares are reportedly traded in an unofficial market before their stock exchange listing. Investors often monitor GMP to gauge sentiment ahead of an IPO, but it is not an exchange-verified price or a guarantee of listing gains.

The reported GMP increased from ₹156 on October 5 to ₹218 on October 13 before easing to ₹211 on October 14. These movements offer a snapshot of informal market sentiment, rather than a dependable forecast of the eventual listing price.

Jio IPO Dates, Valuation and Issue Size

Reuters previously reported that Jio Platforms was targeting a valuation of approximately $106 billion, with a proposed price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. The issue could raise up to ₹30,213 crore, exceeding Hyundai Motor India's ₹27,800-crore IPO in 2024.

Jio Platforms has expanded beyond telecommunications into mobile connectivity, broadband, entertainment, cloud services, enterprise technology and artificial intelligence. The company reportedly had nearly 524.4 million subscribers as of March.

The proposed listing is also significant for Reliance Industries investors, as it could help unlock value in the group's digital and telecom business. The final valuation, issue terms and investor response will become clearer after formal disclosures.

Should Investors Rely on the ₹211 GMP?

The reported ₹211 GMP suggests positive interest among some unofficial market participants, but it should not be treated as a reliable prediction of listing performance.

Grey market quotations can fluctuate rapidly and vary across trackers. The eventual listing price will depend on factors including the final issue valuation, investor demand, broader market conditions and the offer terms.

Investors should review the company's official offer documents, financial performance, business risks and valuation before making investment decisions. The GMP alone is insufficient to determine whether an IPO is suitable for an investor.
