Kannada–Telugu TV Actor Harassed for Months with Vulgar Videos; Accused Arrested in Bengaluru

A popular Kannada and Telugu television actor has filed a police complaint after enduring three months of relentless online harassment, leading to the arrest of the accused by Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police in Bengaluru.

Actor Received Vulgar Videos and Texts for Three Months

According to police reports, the accused, identified as “Naveenz”, first sent the actor a friend request on Facebook, which she declined. What followed was a series of explicit messages, vulgar videos, and disturbing online stalking.

Despite being blocked several times, the man allegedly created multiple fake accounts to continue sending obscene content, causing the actor severe emotional distress.

“He kept sending vulgar videos and messages even after I blocked him. He created fake profiles and continued harassing me,” the actor said in her complaint.

Accused Arrested After Victim Confronts Him in Person

Frustrated by the ongoing harassment, the actor confronted the man near Nandan Palace in Nagarabhavi on November 1, but his behaviour reportedly did not stop.

She then approached the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police, who traced and arrested the accused. The man has now been remanded to judicial custody, and further investigation is underway.

Police confirmed that several fake social media profiles were used by the accused to contact and intimidate the actor.

⚖️ Police Action and Legal Context

Authorities have registered a case under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act, addressing online harassment and obscene communication.

Officials stressed that such cases highlight the growing threat of cyberstalking against women in the entertainment industry and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring safety in digital spaces.

A senior officer said, “We encourage victims to come forward. Online harassment leaves a trail, and such offenders can be tracked and punished.”

Growing Concern Over Celebrity Cyber Harassment

This incident adds to the growing number of cases where actors and public figures face targeted online abuse through fake profiles and digital stalking.
In recent years, several regional and national celebrities have reported receiving vulgar messages, threats, and unsolicited videos, prompting renewed calls for tougher cyber laws and faster digital crime tracking.

Public Reaction

The case has drawn strong reactions from the television fraternity, with many urging stricter measures against cyber offenders. Several actors have taken to social media to express solidarity and emphasize the importance of reporting harassment early rather than tolerating it silently.

Conclusion

The arrest marks a significant step toward combating online harassment in the entertainment industry. As investigations continue, the case underlines the urgent need for stricter cyber laws, public awareness, and digital accountability to protect individuals — especially women — from persistent online abuse.
