Kolkata Ferrari Crash: High-Speed Accident Injures Four Near Racecourse

A high-speed crash involving a luxury Ferrari near Kolkata’s racecourse on Wednesday morning left four people injured, including two street sweepers. The incident occurred around 7:30 AM on Hospital Road in the Hastings police station area.

Police said the Ferrari was being driven by a young man with his father seated beside him when it lost control, rammed into a roadside lamp post, hit a tree, and overturned between the Victoria Memorial and the racecourse grounds. The impact left the vehicle mangled beyond recognition.

Both occupants of the sports car were rescued in an injured condition and rushed to SSKM Hospital for treatment. Two street sweepers working nearby were also hurt after being struck during the crash.

Witnesses described hearing a loud explosion-like noise followed by people rushing towards the overturned vehicle to assist the victims.

Kolkata Police have launched a detailed investigation, including retrieving data from the car’s onboard systems to determine whether overspeeding, negligent driving, or traffic violations contributed to the accident. The area has been cordoned off to allow forensic examination of the site.

The incident has reignited concerns over reckless driving and the dangers posed by high-performance vehicles in densely populated urban zones.
