Air India Flight Returns to Delhi After Engine Fire Alert; All Passengers Safe

An Air India flight bound for Indore was forced to return to Delhi on Sunday after the cockpit crew detected a fire warning in the aircraft’s right engine shortly after takeoff.

The airline confirmed that flight AI2913, operating on the Delhi-Indore route, safely landed back at the Delhi airport following standard emergency protocols. “The cockpit crew received a fire indication for the right engine and decided to shut it down before returning to Delhi,” Air India said in an official statement.

All passengers and crew on board are safe. The aircraft has been grounded for a detailed inspection, and passengers are being accommodated on an alternative aircraft to complete their journey to Indore.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s air safety regulator, has been informed about the incident, and further checks are underway to determine the cause of the alert.

The airline emphasized that safety remains its top priority and that all necessary measures were taken to ensure a secure landing.
