Arbaz Patel RiseFall: Actor Says Friendship With Dhanashree Verma Was Just Strategic

Actor Arbaz Patel, who finished as the second runner-up in Amazon MX Player’s reality show Rise & Fall, has opened up about his much-discussed bond with Dhanashree Verma. In a candid clarification after the show’s finale, Arbaz revealed that their connection was merely strategic, calling it an “alliance” rather than a genuine friendship.

Since the show’s launch six weeks ago, Arbaz emerged as one of the most competitive and tactical players. However, his intense focus on winning limited his personal connections inside the house. The only visible bond he shared was with choreographer Dhanashree Verma, which became a talking point throughout the season.

“It Was Just an Alliance”

Addressing questions about his relationship with Dhanashree, Arbaz explained,

“Whenever I am on a show, I play the game. You are here to win. Friendships and relationships can happen in the real world. Everyone is just using one another in the game.”

He added that the connection with Dhanashree was part of his game strategy.

“This was an alliance. Many people are saying I didn’t listen to my girlfriend Nikki’s advice, but alliances are vital in this game. When I was a ruler, Dhanashree was friendly; when someone else had power, her behavior changed. It was part of the game.”

On Arjun Bijlani’s Win

Arbaz expressed happiness over Arjun Bijlani’s victory, calling him the most deserving winner after himself.

“If someone played the game well after me, it was Arjun. When it came to the final three, it was all fate. The show was about alliances and playing smart.”

The actor highlighted how dynamics inside the house were often misunderstood as friendships.

“We call it friendship because we spend time together, but it’s more about mutual strategy than emotional bonding,” he clarified.

Addressing Controversies

During the show, Arbaz also faced criticism for his remarks about Dhanashree’s way of greeting male contestants. Defending his views, he said,

“I wasn’t raised with female friends. My parents taught me to respect women and maintain boundaries. That’s how I’ve always behaved — even with friends or sisters. It wasn’t about controlling anyone, just my perspective.”

He further explained that Dhanashree’s habits were her personal choice and that his comments were misunderstood.

On Being a Polarizing Contestant

Arbaz admitted that his straightforward gameplay made him one of the most talked-about contestants.

“When you have power, people will hate you. I played with strategy, not emotion — and I’m proud of it,” he said.

Rise & Fall, hosted by Ashneer Grover, concluded with Arjun Bijlani taking home the trophy and a cash prize of Rs 28.10 lakh.
