Netflix has officially announced the release of its upcoming supernatural mystery film, Baramulla, premiering November 7, 2025. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, the film stars Manav Kaul and Bhasha Sumbli in lead roles.
Set in the breathtaking yet eerie snow-clad Baramulla valley of Kashmir, the movie follows DSP Ridwaan Sayyed (played by Manav Kaul), a police officer newly transferred to the region. Upon arrival, he faces the chilling case of a young boy’s mysterious disappearance, sparking a sequence of events that blur the lines between reality, myth, and the supernatural.
As Ridwaan and his family move into a dilapidated colonial-era house, unexplained happenings begin to unfold — creaking doors, whispers in the dark, and sudden visions that hint at a deeper curse linked to the valley itself.
While trying to solve the case, Ridwaan must also confront his haunting past and protect his family from forces beyond comprehension. The narrative intertwines family drama, local folklore, and paranormal suspense, creating an atmospheric tale that’s both emotional and unsettling.
Director Aditya Suhas Jambhale, who co-wrote the script with Monal Thaakar, emphasizes that Kashmir itself is a character in the film. “Kashmir is not just the setting; it’s a living, breathing character that shapes every mystery and emotion,” he said.
The movie is produced by Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios), Aditya Suhas Jambhale, and Lokesh Dhar (B62 Studios). It represents a creative collaboration between Jio Studios and B62 Studios, blending Indian mysticism with cinematic realism.
What sets Baramulla apart is its ability to fuse genres — balancing supernatural horror, psychological tension, and human drama. The story draws upon Kashmir’s haunting beauty and folklore, capturing the tension between belief and skepticism.
The visuals, atmosphere, and emotionally layered performances from Manav Kaul and Bhasha Sumbli are expected to make Baramulla one of Netflix’s most intriguing original Indian films of the year.
Manav Kaul plays DSP Ridwaan Sayyed, a complex protagonist torn between duty and fear.
Bhasha Sumbli, known for The Kashmir Files, portrays his wife, whose quiet strength anchors the story amid chaos.
Their performances promise a realistic portrayal of a family trapped within both emotional and supernatural turmoil.
