Bihar Assembly Polls: Amit Shah and J.P. Nadda Finalise NDA Seat-Sharing Deal

In the run-up to the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, top BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and party President J.P. Nadda, convened for high-stakes discussions aimed at finalising the NDA’s seat-sharing formula. The meetings, held at Nadda’s residence, are reportedly intended to resolve allocation issues among allies before the BJP Central Election Committee, which will include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approves the final candidate list.

Sources suggest the seat-sharing arrangement is nearly finalised, though the official announcement will only follow once the BJP declares its candidates. Reports indicate a formula in which the JD(U) may contest around 102 seats, with the BJP slightly behind at 101. The remaining seats are expected to be distributed among smaller allies, including the LJP (Ram Vilas) and HAM(S), reflecting efforts to maintain coalition harmony in the state.

Political analysts note that the seat-sharing discussions are critical, as Bihar has historically been a battleground where alliance unity often determines the electoral outcome. The NDA’s strategy underscores the importance of careful allocation to maximise electoral gains and consolidate voter bases across diverse regions.

The outcome of these talks is expected to set the tone for BJP’s campaign strategy in Bihar, with the alliance seeking to counter opposition parties and retain its influence in the state legislature.
