CBSE Migration Certificate Now Digital via DigiLocker

CBSE Migration Certificate Now Digital via DigiLocker

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially transitioned migration certificates for Classes 10 and 12 to a fully digital format. From this academic year, physical certificates will no longer be issued.

Students will now receive digitally signed migration certificates through DigiLocker, India’s secure platform for accessing official documents. These digital certificates hold the same legal validity as traditional physical certificates and are recognized by all higher educational institutions across the country.

This update is in line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, which encourage universities to accept documents stored in the National Academic Depository (NAD) and DigiLocker as valid academic records.

Migration Certificate Now Free
In a student-friendly move, CBSE has confirmed that migration certificates will now be available at no cost. Once results are declared, certificates will automatically be uploaded to students’ DigiLocker accounts.

Students who require a printed version during the transition can request it through the Duplicate Academic Document System (DADS) portal at cbseit.in. The certificate will be verified, processed, and delivered to the student’s address.

Steps to Download CBSE Migration Certificate via DigiLocker:

  1. Visit the DigiLocker website or mobile app.

  2. Log in using registered credentials.

  3. Set up a security PIN if not already configured.

  4. Navigate to the “Issued Documents” section.

  5. Select CBSE Documents and click on Migration Certificate.

  6. Download and save the certificate for future use.

Note: CBSE has introduced a six-digit access code to activate DigiLocker accounts. Schools are responsible for distributing these codes. Students who haven’t received theirs should contact their school administration.

What is a Migration Certificate?
A migration certificate is an official document that allows a student to transfer from one school or board to another. It confirms that the student has completed studies under the issuing board and is eligible to continue education elsewhere.

The shift to digital migration certificates reinforces CBSE’s commitment to digital transformation, making academic records more convenient, secure, and accessible for millions of students nationwide.
