CBSE Warns Schools on Accurate Data Submission for 2026 Board Exams: Correction Window Open Oct 13–27

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a strict advisory to all affiliated schools, urging them to ensure accurate submission of student details for the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The Board has emphasized that even minor errors in the List of Candidates (LOC) could affect a student’s eligibility and create complications during the exams.

Accuracy in Student Records Critical

The LOC serves as the official database for candidates. CBSE has instructed schools to carefully verify every entry, including:

  • Correct spelling of students’ names and those of parents/guardians, matching school admission and withdrawal registers.

  • Dates of birth recorded exactly as per school records.

  • Subject codes and combinations in accordance with CBSE’s official scheme of studies.

Strict Responsibility for Schools

Schools are directly accountable for the precision of submitted information. CBSE has flagged frequent errors in subjects like Hindi, Urdu, and Mathematics. In particular, schools must take extra care when filling in subject codes:

  • Hindi-A (002) vs Hindi-B (085)

  • Mathematics Standard (041) vs Mathematics Basic (241)

In addition, details of Children With Special Needs (CWSN) must be correctly updated on the CBSE portal to ensure provisions and accommodations are available.

Correction Facility and Verification Window

CBSE has allowed a facility to revise entries even after examination fees are paid. Any additional fees arising from corrections must be paid online.

Upon final submission, schools will receive a Data Verification Slip for each student to recheck details. If discrepancies remain, CBSE will conduct a data verification drive between October 13 and October 27, 2025. During this period, schools must submit supporting documents such as admission and withdrawal registers to validate changes.

Corrections to names, parental details, date of birth, or subject combinations will only be permitted during this correction window. After October 27, 2025, no further changes will be entertained, regardless of the circumstances.

Board’s Reminder

CBSE stressed that schools must act responsibly, as incorrect entries could seriously jeopardize students’ exam eligibility. Some corrections will remain free of cost, but those involving changes in subjects or other particulars may require additional fees.

This advisory follows an earlier CBSE notice issued on September 11, 2025, reminding schools about the importance of timely, error-free data submission for the smooth conduct of the 2026 board exams.
