SSC Detects Hacking Attempts in CGL 2025 Exams, Warns of Criminal Action

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has detected remote hacking attempts during the ongoing Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025, issuing a strong warning of strict disciplinary and criminal action against those involved.

The CGL examination, which commenced on September 12 and will run until September 26, is among the largest competitive exams in India. It attracts lakhs of aspirants vying for Group B and C posts in government departments and ministries.

Digital Monitoring Flags Malpractices

In an official notice released on September 17, SSC confirmed that its digital security systems—deployed to monitor every candidate’s terminal across exam centres—identified attempts of remote system takeovers.

The Commission stated:
“Through the digital security solutions deployed by the Commission, it has been noticed that remote takeover/system hacking attempts are being made on certain candidates' nodes at some of the centres.”

Warning of Debarment and Legal Action

SSC has made it clear that such activities are under close scrutiny. Following the completion of the examination process, digital evidence and system logs will be thoroughly examined.

Candidates or exam centres found guilty of facilitating hacking attempts will face permanent debarment and criminal proceedings. The notice emphasizes that accountability will extend not only to candidates but also to institutions enabling such malpractice.

Commitment to Fairness

The Commission reassured lakhs of aspirants that the integrity of the CGL exam remains its top priority. Candidates have been urged to avoid unfair practices and focus on genuine performance.

By deploying advanced digital surveillance and issuing this strong warning, SSC aims to ensure transparency and protect the credibility of one of India’s most significant recruitment examinations.
