Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has turned out to be one of the most unexpected success stories of 2025. Released on Diwali alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, the film has managed to hold its own amid tough competition, nearing the ₹50 crore mark at the domestic box office.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned ₹3.5 crore on Monday and ₹4.25 crore on Tuesday (Day 8), bringing its total collection to an impressive ₹49.25 crore. With a production budget of just ₹25 crore, the Milap Zaveri directorial has already doubled its investment and become a profitable venture for its makers.
Despite the dominance of Thamma, which has collected over ₹95.6 crore in India, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat continues to enjoy strong occupancy, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The film’s success has reinforced the growing trend of mid-budget romantic dramas resonating deeply with audiences outside major metros.
The movie’s blend of passionate romance, political intrigue, and emotional storytelling seems to have clicked with viewers who prefer classic Bollywood melodrama over formulaic modern narratives.
Interestingly, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has already outperformed Harshvardhan Rane’s previous romantic hit Sanam Teri Kasam, which earned ₹42.28 crore in its lifetime run. This not only marks a career milestone for Rane but also re-establishes him as one of the most bankable actors in the romantic-drama space.
The chemistry between Harshvardhan and Sonam Bajwa has been widely praised, with critics and fans highlighting their intense screen presence and emotional depth.
Directed by Milap Zaveri, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat tells the story of Vikramaditya Bhonsle, a rising politician whose life takes a tumultuous turn after he falls in love with a celebrated actress, Adaa Randhawa. Their passionate relationship soon spirals into a dangerous game of obsession, pride, and heartbreak.
“When a strong-willed superstar falls in love with a powerful politician, their passionate romance swiftly turns into a dangerous game of obsession and pride,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
The movie’s blend of romantic intensity, political backdrop, and high-stakes drama has been a major draw for audiences seeking a traditional Bollywood experience.
The film’s performance highlights how smaller productions, when supported by strong storytelling and emotional resonance, can compete with big-banner blockbusters. Its success also underscores the importance of Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets, which are increasingly driving box office growth for Hindi cinema.
With positive word-of-mouth and stable weekday collections, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is likely to cross the ₹50 crore mark within the next few days, securing its place among 2025’s surprise hits.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat proves that heartfelt storytelling and authentic performances still have the power to attract audiences even amidst high-profile competition. Harshvardhan Rane’s emotional portrayal and Sonam Bajwa’s magnetic charm have made the film a standout romantic drama of the year.
If the current trend continues, the film could go on to join the ₹60 crore club, marking a significant achievement for both the cast and the makers.
